2-17. 雞隻的檢查：
站立─雞隻應筆直站好。若雞隻站立時呈蜷縮狀，表示其身體不適；若常單腳久站，可能是有胃痛的問題。 Posture. The chicken should stand tall. Chickens that are huddled up are unwell. If a chicken stands on one foot for a long time, she could be suffering from stomach pain.
腳掌─腳掌有腫脹或病變區，表示可能潮溼或尖銳凸起物造成。 Feet. Swellings or lesions on the soles of the feet are a sign of wet or sharp litter or sharp protrusions.
雞冠─應直立且色澤紅潤。眼睛周圍也應該有紅色的一圈”眼線”。 Comb and lobes. A healthy comb stands upright and is a nice red colour. There should also be a red rim around the eyes.

胸骨─發生骨折都是意外造成的。因為飼料中鈣、磷或維生素D缺乏或腸道吸收差，造成胸骨軟化。 Breastbone. Breaks are caused by accidents. Soft breastbones are either the result of insufficient calcium, phosphorus or vitamin D in the feed or poor uptake in the intestine.
